Boggy Creek T-bar closes

9 September 2019

9 September 2019:  Another page for the history books yesterday as the Boggy Creek T-bar rolled for it's last time. The trusty T-bar dates back to 1967 when it was part of the Orange Lifts stable.  The lift was farewelled in style by Ski Patrol before it was stopped for the final time by Laurie Blampied, BSL General Manager.

Mt Buller ski patrol formed a guard of honour for the final ride which was made by two legendary patrollers, Brian Singer and Donny Morgan.  Both Don and Brian have served on the patrol for decades between them and were delighted to share a final trip up the line sharing a quiet beer as they did so in the falling snow.

Hannes Grimus was amongst the gathering  who got in a few nice runs in deep fresh powder as the storm kicked in delivering another 20cms to the cover in this extraordinary spring snowfall.  Hannes took one of the last rides up the lift in honour of Hans Grimus who built the lift 52 years ago.

The old T bar is set to be decommissioned starting this week, making way for the new Mt Buller water storage dam.

Work on the dam is set to commence immediately on the close of the snow season at the end of September.  The new dam will deliver Mt Buller an additional 100ML of water for snowmaking and village supply and is set to double the water available for snowmaking with Standard run set to get guns for 2020.
