Mt Buller Prepped for Snow Season

1 May 2018

Mt Buller’s state of the art SnowFactory produces snow at any temperature ready to deliver to the village slopes for the opening weekend.  The winter season officially kicks off in a blaze of fireworks and celebrations in the beautiful alpine village on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend on 9-11 June, 2018.

CEO of Mt Buller Resort Management, Mark Bennetts says, ‘Snow in Australia is a truly special experience; it’s like another world up here in our snow-covered village and guests will feel the magic as soon as they arrive. There’s a wide variety of activities to experience, from skiing and snowboarding, to riding the scenic chairlift or taking a husky sled dog ride, there is something for everyone.”

Mt Buller has a long tradition of supporting Australia’s winter Olympians and you might even see some of the freestyle and aerials team, “The Flying Kangaroos”, during your stay.  This winter the resort has improved the training facilities for the athletes including accommodation and indoor and outdoor training zones.  The mogul and aerial jump site has been enhanced this year to ensure the best possible course for our Olympic hopefuls to train on.

Snow is the most important asset in an alpine resorts and Mt Buller continues to invest to improve snowmaking and snow grooming.  This winter Buller Ski Lifts unveils the first SnowSat system in Australia, which allows grooming to precise and even depths across the resort giving a smooth cover and using every flake of snow efficiently.

Launched last winter Mt Buller’s Twilight Sessions have been a hit on weekends in July and August.  From 5pm the lights come on and guests can ski and board on Bourke Street and hit the village toboggan slope until 8.30pm. Crackling fires and live music in the village add to the buzz and there are marshmallows to toast over the coals.

Mt Buller snow season is from 9 June through to early October with dozens of events and activities all winter long.  Start planning your winter escape to Mt Buller and book it all online here.
