Hooray for winter school holidays! There are plenty of happy faces up here and the kids are glad to put the books down for a couple of weeks and click into some skis and snowboards instead!
We spoke to Barry Possum and Blake the Flake to get a few tips for how to have the best time up here during these school holidays... and here are some extracts from our conversation...
- Get the Kids' Week plan and stick it on the fridge - there is something happening every day this week and most of it is FREE!
[Blake had his allowance cut for not cleaning his room this week so he's all about the free stuff] - Go to school... [Barry: WHAT? are you crazy?????] Ski & Snowboard School that is. Jump in a lesson with one of the friendly team of instructors, master a few skills, score a medal in the Thursday races and meet some new snow friends!
- Look out for Barry and Blake who plan to cut a few laps on Bourke Street this week. [Barry - I'm heading straight to the park to be honest. The Park crew have put in a box and I am all over it. I've even got my helmet on... so I'm ready. Blake can take the photos. His head is a weird shape so he can't wear a helmet. Look for my rad shots on the gram #barrysgotmoves #possumsinthepark #weloveyoubarrypossum #nevermissapossum]
- Blake is excited to meet Olympian and all round legend skier, Mum, inspiring ambassador Jacqui Cooper who will be in resort with her family this week. [Blake: I am such a massive fan. I blush every time I see Jacqui and I would love to go to her Jumping with Jac session at the Air Zone this week. That is going to be so much fun.]
- Hit the cinema - there will be family friendly movies on all week so if your snow legs need a rest or you just need some popcorn and Pikachu we've got you covered.
- Get a family photo - Harro, Jackie and Michelle are snapping awesome family memories this week and can be booked for your own private photo shoot. They also regularly take beautiful shots in the Magic Forest of the little ones making their first turns on snow so head to The Photo Shop online or say hi to the crew down near the creche in the mornings.
- Hungry? [Barry & Blake: we are ALWAYS hungry!] Head in to the ABOM just off the Bourke Street run any time of day for a warm up, some pizza and plenty of quick and tasty options and say hi to the huge polar bears while you are there.
