Five new trails for MTB

23 April 2025

Thanks to a Victorian Government grant Mt Buller's bike trails have been chosen to receive $1.1 million to be used to make 5 new mountain biking trails.

Where are the new trails?

The new trails will add nearly 10km to the existing network of approx 60kms of alpine riding currently offered at Mt Buller and Mt Stirling. The new trails are all on Mt Buller and include new connections between Corn Hill access and the popular Delatite River Trail. The trail updates include an extension to Woollybutt and new beginner, intermediate and advanced trails from Abom to the Plough Shed.

When will they be ready to ride?

The first two trails are expected to be ready for riding by Christmas 2025 and the final three by April 2026.

Mt Buller ARV General Manager Alan Arthur explains,

“We'll finally be able to offer Corn Hill access to Delatite River Trail, meaning riders will no longer have to traverse the Mt Buller Road to Box Corner. Once complete the new trails will take riders approximately 2 days to explore. Guests will be able to enjoy fantastic riding on the gravity trails and also a four hour loop beginning and ending up here on Mt Buller. ”

Alpine Resorts Victoria (ARV) is contributing $277,000 to the project. "we're confident the new trails will provide additional reasons for people to visit and stay on Mt Buller, boosting summer visitation. This will provide an economic benefit not only for our summer operators but for Mansfield and the surrounding region."

Mt Buller hosted the GWM Mountain Bike National Championships in March and Mr Arthur said the new trails would cement Mt Buller's position as a world-class mountain biking location. The Victorian Government funding is part of the Regional Tourism Investment Fund and was announced by Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major events Steve Dimopoulos on the 16 April 2025.
