It’s been an adrenaline-charged few days in the saddle at Mt Buller, as Australia’s top MTB riders, along with passionate supporters and spectators, arrived at the resort to take on the 2025 GWM Mountain Bike National Championships. With fast racing, big moments, and an electric atmosphere, the mountain was alive with action.
As the dust settles on a thrilling week of competition the Mt Buller community congratulates everyone who rode and the amazing team behind the scenes who made the event a success.
Luke Meier-Smith came 1st in the Elite Men Down Hill.
If you’re wondering what went on here’s the lowdown:
From the 11-16 March we enjoyed 5 days of racing on downhill and cross country trails, plenty of practice laps and course inspections, rolling presentations each day and a great buzz on and off the trails.
Competitors of all levels—from under 13s to masters and elite divisions, including adaptive, XC, and downhill riders—gave it their all each day, enjoying the beautiful alpine village at Mt Buller between heats.
Ashlee Morton riding in the adaptive XC race.
It felt like summer for most of the event with ‘brown pow’ flying on the trails and long, sunny t-shirt days and stunning views along the courses. Just to keep things fresh the rain arrived suddenly for the final day along with a sharp drop in temperatures! Just like the Grand Prix in Melbourne yesterday the finish line tussles were intense in the wet conditions.
The results:
See all the race details on the event page where there are full rundowns of each race and complete result tables.
XC competitors enjoy the sunny conditions on Thursday.
Mt Buller thanks all the participants, Auscycling and the many passionate local volunteers who worked with the resort team to deliver a superb event.
Inspired to ride the trails yourself? Mt Buller’s 100+kms of trails are open until the end of April, including the Easter break, with bike shuttle services on the gravity trails, plenty of in-village accommodation, bike friendly services including wash stations and a pump track in the middle of the Mt Buller village.
