Must Do Summer Activities

20 December 2018

Wildflowers

Take a walk on the wild side at Mt Buller and Mt Stirling this season, a walk with wild flowers that is! January sees the resorts carpeted in exquisite native blooms, so grab your camera and go crazy – this is an Insta dream come true!

Must do

Sometimes the hardest part of planning your next break is deciding exactly what do when you get there! We’ve asked around and these are our staff’s tops picks, so there’s no excuse now not to get out and about on your next visit to the mountain.

All our trails are now open for biking, running and walking and in fantastic condition following the recent rainfall.

Ride

Bike Buller Benny reckons his favourite trail for January is Copperhead. He likes the new, improved features, flow and fun.  That sounds ok doesn’t it? Jump on across from the Arlberg and pump the long deep berms and switch backs finishing at Lower Tirol for a shuttle back up to do it again.

Run

Niki’s favourite part of running in the mountains is the clean, cool alpine air. The temperature might be hitting the 100 in the lowlands but high in the hills running’s a breeze! Niki recommends the twisting, turning single-track of the 4km Gang Gangs run as the prefect way to start a summer’s day.

Walk

Hope likes walking, and her pick for summer is the Little Mt Buller return at 8.7kms. Hope reckons if you grab your mates, your water bottle and your camera then you’re all set for this one! Views to die for make the short climb all worth it, and the share-worthy pics are reward in themselves.

Sitrling Cafe

Ever finished a walk through pristine alpine wilderness, only to wish you could get a great coffee and tasty treat? Well head over to Mt Stirling every weekend this summer and you’ll find exactly that! Mt Stirling is known for it’s stunning natural beauty, and the Mt Stirling Café, open every weekend in summer, is a haven for alpine wanderers with a great range of drinks and snacks.

All Terrain Cycles

Is the little shop that could! Right in the centre of the Mt Buller Village this one-stop-shop is not only a hire outlet, retail store, service and sales centre but a great place to get riding advice and to meet the locals. ATC also sell shuttle passes and offers guided rides and tours, so pop in and say hi on your next visit.

Accommodation

Discover so much more of the mountain when you stay the night. Our lovely village is little, but you’ll be amazed at how many accommodation options, from low-key to luxurious, are waiting for you just steps away from the action.  Visit the accommodation section of the Mt Buller website or call 1800 BULLER (285 537)
