An unusually wet and snowy Spring has impacted maintenance of the 100+kms mountain bike trail network on Mt Buller and Mt Stirling normally scheduled to open in early December.
Trails in the One Tree Hill and Corn Hill area are cleared and open including Misty Twist, Clancy’s, Split Rock, Medusa and Gang Gangs; all riding well following extensive refurbishment in last summer’s $1.2m upgrade program. Walking trails are open and guests have been making the most of the clearing conditions to take in the views.
Over 60cms of November snow combined with heavy rain and storms has made the annual trail preparation very challenging, however the weather forecast is improving with a week of sunny dry days ahead and the trail crew are making good progress as the snow melts and trails dry out.
Many large trees came down in recent storms - slowing the usual trail preparations for the summer ride season
The resort has confirmed the free “Summer Shred Sesh” on Saturday 3 December will officially kick start summer activities including a 6ft bike airbag, new pump track, AirZone jump sessions and a pop-up snow terrain park for a high-energy afternoon in the Mt Buller Village.
