Whether it’s you first time visiting Mt Buller or you’re a seasoned mountain adventurer, we’ve put together an itinerary to savour some of the best on offer. With local tips and secret spots, you can’t go wrong.
In 2.5 days, we promise you an exhilarating escape into a world of adventure, balanced out with some relaxation time to unwind.
Day 1: Arrival and stargazing
As the sun sets over Melbourne, hit the road and make your way to Mt Buller. Mt Buller's proximity makes it an ideal destination for full-time workers and families seeking a quick mountain retreat. Check into your accommodation, settling into the heart of the mountain community.
Day 2: Adventure Unleashed
Grab a mountain bike from ATC and head on down the Delatite river trail. With almost 9km of biking trail, 12 log bridges crossing flowing river waters and towering eucalypts watching over you, this will get the blood pumping to kick off your weekend.
Grab an early lunch form the Mirimbah Store, picking from a delicious assortment of fresh sandwiches and café favourites, to restore the energy you’ve just burnt down the mountain.
Hitch a ride back up to Mt Buller Village on a shuttle to prepare for your afternoon of giddy heights.
Join the afternoon guided tour on RockWire, Australia’s first via ferrata. Hang off the cliffs 1000m above the Delatite valley and scramble over the shaggy rocks of the west face of Mt Buller’s summit. Use the manmade features of iron stemples and wire bridges supplement the natural rock holds when your experience guide leads you to places you never thought you could go in Mt Buller.
As the day winds down, gather around a fireside. Share your adventures, connect with other visitors, and revel in the sense of community that makes Mt Buller special.
Day 3: Valley Vibes
Start the morning with a brisk walk along your choice of hikes. If you’re really feeling keen, try a sunrise hike over to Little Mt Buller. The 5.7km return walk with contouring terrain is a beautiful start to any day. Checkout the sculpture park walk as you head back into the village to grab your morning coffee at the Village Bike Café.
Head down the mountain and grab a hearty lunch under the trees at the Merrijig Motor Inn. Check out the Delatite Winery or one of the local breweries along the way as you make your way down the verdant valley back toward home.
Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned adventurer, Mt Buller invites you to embrace the adventure, celebrate the moments, and become a part of our vibrant mountain community.
