Commercial tourism business

Drone flight and filming permits

For the safety of our guests, all drone flights must be pre-approved, comply with Resort and CASA regulations and be flown by a Drone Pilot with a Remote Pilot Licence (RePl) or a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operator’s Certificate (ReOC). The Resort does not allow pilots that are only Accredited Operators even if the drone weighs 2kg or less or hobbyists. Click here to apply for a drone permit on-line.

Mount Buller and Mount Stirling are proud to be popular film and television locations and work with artists and producers to identify great shoot locations. Click here to apply for a filming permit on-line.

Snow season vehicle permits

All vehicles entering the Mt Buller Village require a permit. The permit application process opens in February and closes in March each year. Click here for more information on vehicle permits.

Dog Permits

The Alpine Resort (Management) Regulations 2020 regulate domestic animals in Alpine Resorts. Mt Buller residents can apply for a Dog Permit subject to eligibility criteria between April and may each year. Click here for more information.

Dog Permits are not issued for Mt Stirling. Cats are not permitted in either Resort under any circumstances and heavy penalties apply.

Commercial Helicopter Landings

Commercial and private helicopters are not permitted to land within the Resorts.
