About

Directions

  • From the Clock Tower walk up Athlete's Walk past the ABOM Hotel
  • Continue up Summit Road to the Arlberg
  • Head across the ski area (NNW) under the little shelter and towards Spurs at the top of the Northside Express chairlift
  • Follow the trail as it heads uphill and towards the summit which you can see ahead
  • Wind your way through heathland to a glade of snowgums with a marker pointing out surrounding peaks
  • Skirt along the underside of the new Boggy Creek Reservoir (100 megalitres of water storage for the resort) built in 2019-2020 and up to the Summit Car Park
  • OPTION - Take the steep climb up to the summit itself for superb views - a rocky path with steep drops either side so take it easy up here!
  • ANOTHER OPTION - if you've had enough you can walk back to the village down the unsealed road, past Tirol back to the Arlberg
  • Continue back on the loop following the trail past the Pendergast Hut and Koflers, under the Koflers T-bar line passing the Ski Patrol memorial.
  • Continue along the path underneath the Wombat, Federation, Southside and Bull Run lift lines.
  • Superb views across to the Bluff as you walk below the Sun Valley snowmaking dam and snow kat garage above on your left.
  • This is Mountain pygmy-possum country where these tiny marsupials are sheltered in the boulder fields.
  • Continue along and you will soon get glimpses back to the village and lodges as you come out at Skyline ski run and the top of the Bourke Street Express and end up back at the Arlberg.
  • Time for a coffee/beer!
